A McNamara Thanksgiving--a lot to be thankful for.........

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Six months ago I scheduled a dentist appointment for my biannual cleaning. When I scheduled the appointment for 7:00 a.m. it was under the assumption that I had school. We actually had the day off today! Oh well, getting the dentist out of the way early is always a good thing!

I also went to an eye appointment with Mom in the morning and then met up with Andy for lunch. After lunch, Mom and I did some Christmas shopping while Andy went to the dentist.

SIDE BAR
...........Unfortunately Andy had a rather frightening experience at the dentist. When the dental assistant wasn't able to floss between two of his teeth, she had to let the dentist have at it. When the dentist experienced difficulty getting between these massive teeth, Andy jokingly suggested he get out the "diamond tipped saw." Not amused, the dentist did get some sort of tiny mouth saw and proceeded to wrench on Andy's jaw, sawing back and forth between his teeth. Andy claims the dentist was very annoyed during this entire episode. The dentist finally managed to get between Andy's teeth. Left with a sore jaw, Andy jokingly told the dentist and dental assistant that he will put this on his list of "shittiest" experiences of 2008. Again, the dentist was not amused.

We all met up again at the house around 5:30ish or so. Mom organized the shopping gift/stuff while Andy did something on the computer and TV. I must say it was a productive day all around. It was also a treat to hang out with Andy and Mom during the week.

Tonight we held a little gathering to commemorate my Grandma Lee. Unfortunately Troy, Amanda and Tom all had to work. The rest of us were present, including Aunt Lynn.
Dad only had donuts and cookies to honor Grandma. He actually does not like that type of food at all. It repulses him.
Some of the spread. These were some of Grandma's favorites.

Andrew sampling the snacks.
In Tony's traditional snooping, he found one of his favorites. Troy, Tony thanks you.
After watching a Grandma DVD/slideshow (45 minutes long) Andy made this week, we headed to the cemetery.

It was nice to get together tonight. I can't believe it has already been one year.
Grandma was one of the most laid back people I have ever known. I could have stopped at her place at 3:00 in the morning and she would have been happy to see me, throwing on a pot of coffee and offering me food. There is definitely a void, but I consider myself extremely lucky in having had her in my life for 28 years.

I told Mom and Dad tonight that they have a lot to live up to because we had/have some pretty cool Grandparents. Dad doesn't think he needs to worry because he believes he will never be a Grandpa. Clarissa--two words--------eggs, rancid.
